Great news! Sweets from the Piedmont Belle Epoque.

The pastry tradition of Piedmont, and particularly Turin, has always represented one of the most original examples in the history of Italian sweets.

The Savoy family, notably not particularly indulgent, knew how to lighten their days and mark them with small dry pastries to accompany their most important moments.

Spaghetti & Mandolino is launching a beautiful initiative today in exclusive collaboration with a brand new young reality from Turin called DolceArea. A startup that also involves the Bologna Business School and the consultancy of its professors. A project that, as Stefano Scalini, a very young entrepreneur of the initiative, explains, “aims to revive the ancient confectionery traditions of my city and my region, to send a message of high quality to Italy and the World.” The project, which starts online with our portal, is ambitious and bases itself on the awareness of deep and noble roots. Local ingredients and very simple pastry technique for a product of the highest quality that takes up the ancient recipes of grandmothers and visionary pastry chefs.

We chose DolceArea because it represents the Italy we love, that of young people in love with their territory who don’t leave it, but rather take it in hand and take care of it. We will therefore have the opportunity to taste the sweets that delighted the splendid spaces of the Belle Epoque in Turin where enchanting women wore long silk dresses, hiding among the flounces of wide hats and silver feathers. A world that Turin still strongly evokes in its ancient patisseries and chocolate shops of yesteryear.

Torcetti from Lanzo, Baci di Dama from Tortona, Paste Meliga from Cuneo, Brutti e Buoni from Gavirate were the tasty pastimes of literary cafés animated by café chantant and theatrical declamations for young lovers.
