Your vegetarian shopping on Spaghetti&Mandolino: breakfast
Nina is 31 years old, with her head in the clouds and her feet firmly on the ground. Ground that she adores and holds particularly dear, to be honest. Yes, because Nina has chosen a natural diet for a few years now: healthier, more ecological, and often a real creative challenge for those who love experimenting in the kitchen! We at Spaghetti e Mandolino met with her and asked her to tell us what she chooses for her online vegetarian shopping on our portal. In this first stage, we give her the floor, as she shares with us the favorite breakfast products for those following a veg*-friendly lifestyle.
Organic Breakfast
When I buy products, my eye (and my right index finger) immediately goes to the section of organic products. That's where I usually find interesting products for my diet. I love to browse through the specialties of companies that are attentive to ethics and nature, protecting biodiversity. Moreover, this section often features unique products, perfect for treating myself and stepping away from the everyday.
Those who do not eat meat, or consume it very sparingly, must pay a little more attention to some essential nutrients. Among these, proteins and amino acids. For me, this is not a problem: rather, it's an opportunity to discover new ingredients and new flavors! So, I get creative right from the morning. My breakfast is usually simple but very tasty. I love to make bread at home using sourdough and wholemeal flour that is rich in fiber and flavorful, for a dark and rustic bread that not only benefits my diet but also lasts longer. I enrich it with seeds, such as poppy seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, or sesame seeds. I periodically stock up on flax seeds, a food that I can't do without due to its high Omega 3 and Omega 6 content, essential for those who do not eat meat or fish.
And what to spread on the bread? I choose artisan jams! There are some very special ones, like the peach jam with almond pieces, to spread on my homemade bread. Every time I pick a different one, among all the variants that I certainly wouldn't find at the supermarket. This way, I fuel up with energy!
Finally, there's the raw cane sugar. It has nothing to do with the refined white product, both in terms of flavor and health. I found it more affordable than at other stores, and I tend to stock up on this as well!
