Giusti Wine, Gildo's return to the land.

There are timeless stories that tell the value of Italian men and women and their love for their homeland. Italy is a country that always leaves living roots deep down and inspires a desire to return for all those who have left it. It is the story of a family like many others in Veneto from the end of the 19th century to the end of the Second World War. An exodus that affected generations of women and men skilled in labor, and a longing for redemption in distant lands as humble little "conquistadores" of a lost dignity.

The story of Ermenegildo Giusti is the one that unites many Venetians and many Italians expatriated to other continents. His continent will be North America, specifically Canada. There, over the years, through sacrifices but also many successes, he will become one of the most established entrepreneurs in the field of construction, a leader in building on the American West Coast. A solid empire with a great perspective still highly prestigious today. Gildo, as they still call him in his lands, has never severed the umbilical cord that deeply connected him to his Nervesa della Battaglia.

His roots were still so deeply vital that the dream of a return has always been a fixed point in his life. Leaving a land ravaged by two devastating wars, especially the First World which painted his Montello and the plains of the Piave red with blood, Ermenegildo always wished to bring home the benefits of his success to uplift his motherland. Gratitude is the most suitable term for a figure of great personality, humanity, and sensitivity.

The return to Nervesa della Battaglia, among the hills of Montello, in the province of Treviso, will remain an event that will deeply mark his territory and the people who inhabited it. Ermenegildo does not return as a conqueror, but as a humble son and brother of a still suffering people. In 2004, in fact, when he opened his new winery, Giusti Wine, in a village between the Rosalia and Rolando Estates, Nervesa della Battaglia was hit by a severe industrial crisis that left many families without work. For this reason, he decided to start a program of investments in the area that would bring back a bit of light and hope. The same hope that fifty years earlier he was searching for upon landing on Canadian soil. Every woman or man from Nervesa becomes his family and his primary mission, his gratitude, his testament to a life that does not forget the deep roots of a people.

After the first two hectares purchased in 2004, today the property counts around one hundred hectares. Additionally, Ermenegildo has already started work on the design and construction of one of the most fascinating wineries that we will see in Veneto, with a concept of sustainability and architectural integration with the landscape that will set a benchmark at an international level. His love and dedication to the territory lead him to invest not only in wine-related business projects but also in the enhancement and restoration of gems of the history and culture of Montello.

Above all, the purchase and renovation of the Eremo di San Girolamo and the rescue of the Benedictine Abbey of Nervesa, destroyed in the First World War during the battles of the Piave: a place where Monsignor Giovanni Della Casa wrote the Galateo. On the red soil typical of these hills, he finally built two new beautiful country houses open to tourists and visitors.

Ermenegildo has wished to invest a lot in the production of his favorite wine, the one that reminds him of his childhood and his family's history, the Prosecco. His father Augusto, born in Viessieux, France, produced wine just like his wife's family, Mrs. Maria Vittoria, who had been active in cultivating the typical grape varieties of the area since 1945: glera, bianchetta, verdiso. Today the Prosecco produced by Cantine Giusti Wine has reached very high quality levels and its prestige is achieving great success at an international level and recognition from the most important professionals in the sector.

When savoring a Prosecco Giusti Wine, it is not just a sensory experience that one encounters, but the adventure of a lifetime and an unbroken ancestral bond between the land and man.
