2017 ends: here’s the best-selling Italian product.

Dearest friends and food enthusiasts, another year of Spaghetti & Mandolino has passed and, finally, we can no longer claim to be “just born.” Our balance is definitely positive: we don’t say this to indulge in unnecessary self-endorsement but, after an extremely challenging start, we have managed to define the operational pool of this portal. That’s why we can no longer speak of a startup. Today, the new reality we are leading with great enthusiasm has seen the consolidation of new, immensely important internal figures that are functional to the complicated mechanisms of online sales.

When we started, Fabio De Vecchi and I had a dream that was to spread the ethics of good food as much as possible, and above all, of Italian excellence. “Tipico Italiano” is our motto that we are spreading today thanks also to extraordinary suppliers, passionate about their work and their homeland. We have chosen women and men who leave their mark in Italian agri-food production for their passion, competence, technique, and tenacity. It is precisely through the combination of our group of young professionals and the productive efforts of our suppliers that the success of the Spaghetti e Mandolino project arises, both in Italy and in Europe.

But what are the products that have achieved the greatest sales success on our portal?

It could only be this way: Italians are the first in love with the Mediterranean diet and sales prove it. The best-selling product, in fact, is pasta in its various forms, particularly the production from the Trentino pasta factory Felicetti. Its best-selling pasta? The Spaghetti Senatore Cappelli. And then Penne, Linguine, Pàche, etc. Let’s say that Riccardo Felicetti’s production is also the star on our portal.

As the second best-selling product, another fundamental element of the Mediterranean diet holds strong: the tomato. Yes, but be careful, not just any tomato: the Passata di Pomodorino del Piennolo del Vesuvio DOP and the Pacchetella from the proponent of the DOP, the driving force of the farmers of Vesuvius, Pasquale Imperato and his Sapori Vesuviani. Yes, truly the king of tomatoes. We are very happy with this result, which highlights how our audience has perfectly grasped the spirit and philosophy of our idea of Tipico Italiano.

A success also for the bottle from AIS Veneto, which has also been proposed this year as the Charity event of the association of sommeliers exclusively on our portal. Alba Vitae is a collaboration that has been ongoing for three years and of which we are proud.

A cheese that never ceases to amaze with its purchased quantity and the research it inspires is the Crema di Blu all’Oseleta, an extraordinary combination of a great bleu and the territory of Valpolicella and its rarest grape. A product that Giuseppe Bernardinelli of Sapori del Portico always creates with perfect balance.

Another product that has received the best-seller mention is the Olio Extravergine di Oliva extra Redoro from the Salvagno family in Grezzana, Verona. Another typical product of the Mediterranean diet.

Another best seller is the Sfilacci di cavallo, an exceptional product for its quality. The Limoni di Marsala BIO are the most sold fruit and vegetable product. The Gorgonzola DOP dolce Sovrano is the most sold DOP cheese.

A great addition is the company Gragnano in Corsa that produces the Pasta di Gragnano IGP of the highest quality. Again, there are numerous varieties requested, but the number one still remains the spaghetti. A true sales champion is the legendary blue cheese aged by La Casearia Carpenedo, the Blu 61, which this year was crowned as the best blue cheese in Italy at Cheese 2017. Unmatched! We are proud to be the official online sales portal for this product!

The Carne Salà from Salumificio Pavoncelli is gaining great momentum, and in 2018 it will be joined by a new product called Ciccia Salà, which will be an exclusive for Spaghetti&Mandolino. The Soppressa de Brenton from La Casara always gives us great satisfaction: a very rare salami produced and aged between the volcanic caves of the eastern Veronese hills. Sales of another blue cheese from Sapori del Portico, which fascinates with its goodness, are always very strong: the Blu Dominik al rum e cacao

Keep an eye on the rise of some products like the quinoa beer from Altromercato, unique and tasty: during the summer, there was a real sales boom! Antonio Carpenedo had a great success since his first appearance on our portal, and indeed, we are seeing considerable interest for the Toma Blu and the first “Ubriaco” in Italian history, the Ubriaco di Raboso. Finally, sales of the tuna fillet from the fishermen’s cooperative of Portopalo, Mare dell’Etna, are also going well, another success of our founding principle, the search for small stories of Italian excellence that offer great gourmet satisfaction.
