The tea is a beverage that we often substitute for coffee because it is more delicate and less rich in stimulating substances. Is it true? Not exactly. There are types of tea that have a level of theine that surpasses some coffees we are used to consuming. And yet the fact that its density and color are so pleasant makes us think of tea as a restorative beverage, for the most part.
The tea is an infusion or decoction made from the leaves of a woody plant called Camellia Sinesis. It is primarily produced in the eastern regions of Bangladesh, Pakistan, China, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Japan, and also in Africa, particularly in Kenya. The East India Company was the first to occupy eastern lands, turning them into golden properties due to the value that these leaves acquired between the 1700s and 1800s.
The qualities of tea are black, green, Oolong (also known as blue tea), white, yellow , or post-fermented: the difference lies in the different degrees of oxidation of the leaves. Oolong tea, unlike the other types, is a semi-fermented leaf.
The teas sourced from various regions of the world available today on the market are very diverse and typically come from India, South America, and Africa.
Below, we mention the premium teas that we present within our portal Spaghetti & Mandolino, thanks to the fantastic selection from Peter’s Tea House.
The Indian black tea or Assam produces one of the strongest beverages in the world and is very spicy.
The Japanese green tea or Bancha is the classic tea used daily in Japan: it is considered the freshest type with the least theine content. Therefore, it is very suitable for repeated daily breaks. Be sure to try the organic green tea Sencha: a Japanese green tea harvested early in May and June. It has a light green infusion and a very fresh and herbal flavor. Excellent for low-calorie diets and for natural body drainage.
We cannot overlook at least one Oolong, such as the Oolong Blue Walnut Tea, a Chinese Oolong from the Fujian region, consisting of crunchy hazelnut, pieces of coconut, candied pineapple, pieces of walnut, almond flakes, and aroma.
We offer two Chinese black teas: the China Yunnan Pu Erh, an exciting product with an earthy aroma and very intense flavor due to the post-fermentation underground that gives it special cholesterol-lowering properties, and the Lapsang Souchong Crocodile, with a strong smoked flavor and intense red color. The particular smoking process makes this tea excellent for pairing, especially with very savory or spicy foods.
The Darjeeling, or Indian black tea, is very precious and is also called the champagne of tea. It has sweeter aromas and spicy notes of muscat grapes.
Earl Grey is the most popular in Europe, especially in Italy. It has the aroma of bergamot and is named after the English Prime Minister Charles Grey.
Matcha is a green tea from China, usually found in powder form: it is often used by the Chinese for their wedding celebrations.
