THE CREATION OF THE CONSORTIUM: FROM A PASSION FOR ONE'S ORIGIN COME THE BEST PRODUCTS

In October 2003, Cav. Giuseppe Squillaci, current President of the Consortium, and a group of local entrepreneurs, joined forces to promote and market the products of the associates, all family-level micro-enterprises that produce genuine excellences; small producers with great potential, who were struggling to make their voices heard alone.
The ideas and objectives may have seemed bold from the beginning, particularly to materialize in a territory where associationism had never been properly developed before. But the union represented strength, and while each individual business maintained its own identity, often in terms of small or very small enterprise, the Consortium managed to implement each resource, always maintaining a high level of quality standards, all in full respect of tradition and craftsmanship: the true strengths of the individual businesses and the Consortium itself.

BERGAMOT JUICE, THE CONSORZIO MOTTA SPECIALITY

The Bergamot Juice is the most representative branded product of the Consorzio Motta, both of the Consorzio and the beautiful land it represents; a product born from a unique and exclusive citrus fruit of the province of Reggio Calabria, which grows in a narrow strip of only 80 kilometers, along the coast between the Tirreno and the Ionio, enjoying a microclimate perfect for its maturation. It is here that the citrus groves produce bergamot with the best organoleptic qualities, so much so that the difference with fruits produced in other areas is clear, and the results of imitation attempts have proven to be quite poor.

The Consorzio Motta has its own facility in Motta San Giovanni, where all the products of the associated companies are delivered and from which they are subsequently distributed. Among the fifty or so items delivered by the companies, belonging to about ten different categories, the Pure Bergamot Juice stands out, boasting a tradition of over two hundred years, started as an essence for well-known and prized perfumes, but gone well beyond that: the fruit has indeed exceptional characteristics, discovered in recent years. Thus, now the entire citrus is used, from the peel for the traditional essence, to the pulp for the marmalade, to the juice, with important properties: it helps regulate pressure, blood sugar levels, and lowers cholesterol.

The Bergamot Juice from the Consorzio Motta is 100% organic. It is pure, as no sugars, water, let alone additives or preservatives are added. Just pure bergamot juice derived from the squeezing of the fruit and not from concentrate, entirely processed in an artisanal way. For this reason, the unaltered product can be stored for 12 months.
