Natalina Grandi is a family-owned wine company that has been in operation for five generations: the passion for wine and love for the territory has been passed down from father to son until 1991, when Natalina Grandi decided to open the winery. What originally started as a home-based passion became a full-fledged agricultural business, which Giovanni Framarin and his children Luca, Lisa, and Valentina decided to develop in 2016, transforming the company into a beautiful estate of about ten hectares of land, between the plain and the hills of Gambellara and Lonigo.
The Gambellara plain, located in Giaroni, where the estate is situated, characterizes the flavor of its products with its freshness. The river sediments, gravel, and volcanic soil give more sapidity to the wines, which take on that decisive flavor that only this territory can convey. The hill at Monte di Mezzo, on the other hand, produces wines with higher alcohol content, thanks to the exposure of the vines to the sun. Yield is more limited due to the dryness of the soil, but it produces scattered bunches that allow for better aeration. The Recioto, according to the DOCG regulations, is produced in the oldest part of the territory.
Natalina Grandi works the various types of grapes in total purity with a biological supply chain: from grape production to wine bottling, each step is carried out by the company to ensure a natural, refined flavor that recalls the true origins of the land. The cultivated varieties are Garganega, Glera, and Cabernet, which are made into wines separately, without any blending with other types of grapes. The organic cultivation method makes production more complicated, but ensures high quality in the final result: a decisive taste for true connoisseurs, a delightful tasting experience, and a unique flavor in the mouth.
To ensure a high-quality result, the Framarin family carries out significant cultivation work, expressing all the love they have for the land and its high-quality products: the vines are pruned using the Simonit and Sirch method, following the natural growth of the vine and its branching over time. In spring, green pruning is performed, which removes only what the plant does not need for its natural evolution.
As the cultivation of vines is entirely organic, the company does not use any kind of chemical fertilizer. The nutrient needs of the soil are met with the use of manure or green manure.
Natalina Grandi carries out the harvest using natural methods to prevent the grapes from suffering trauma that would cause loss of must. For this reason, bin boxes are used. The Framarin family personally selects grapes together with their collaborators, following the ancient tradition.
Since 2016, the Natalina Grandi Estate has chosen to follow the guidelines to obtain the organic certification of its products, regularizing the entire company conduct that it had already adhered to for years. Indeed, no pesticides, herbicides, or heavy metals are used in cultivation, which are kept to a minimum during treatments, while soil mulching is carried out with green manure, a mixture of herbs and flowers that serves as fertilizer. The grapes produced and harvested naturally transfer that ancient flavor and aromas of a bygone era that only a naturally cultivated territory can tell.
