Recipes for Father's Day: here are some tips to prepare a dinner to enjoy with the whole family! On March 19, we celebrate Father's Day, in correspondence with Saint Joseph. We have thought of a perfect menu to celebrate this occasion with family, featuring those specialties that are most suitable and especially preferred by all fathers!
On this evening, we celebrate our fathers with their favorite specialties: to make them happy, we prepare some rustic dishes, with rich flavors and intense aromas, and set the table with some delicacies like Italian cured meats and cheeses that fathers will surely appreciate!
Here are our tips and ideal recipes for the occasion, from appetizers to dessert, and of course the most suitable wines!
Recipes for Father's Day: let's start with the appetizers! To open the dinner perfectly, we recommend a wine like Prosecco DOC Natalina Grandi Extra Dry, ideal for the appetizer but also perfect to enjoy during dinner. Its delicately floral aroma pairs well with the bold flavors of cured meats and cheeses that it can be enjoyed with.
In this regard, we recommend a truly complete platter: would you like to take a journey of flavors all over Italy with just one platter? Well, the Superstar regional platter will accompany you on a true taste experience throughout Italy, with its bold flavors. The platter includes Monte Veronese dop aged 12-15 months, Casicavaddro di sola Bruna, Carnia Alto But Stravecchio, Sardo sheep Granglona, Pecorino di Pienza white, a orange and ginger compote and a red onion mustard, perfect to pair with the cheeses.
For a rustic appetizer, where flavors triumph, cured meats are a must! We recommend the King of raw ham, the San Daniele DOP Marini boneless ham, sweet and savory at the same time thanks to its aging aromas. A delight for the palate, just like the Speck BIO from the Pedrazzoli salumificio, to be sliced thick, a real treat to savor all the typical taste of South Tyrol. Of course, there must be soppressa! The soppressa Picnic salami with garlic from Pavoncelli is a burst of flavor: a softness that melts in the mouth as you enjoy it. Ideal to stimulate the appetite, just like the smoked aged bacon from Pavoncelli: excellent paired with warm polenta, allowing it to gently soften. A guaranteed success!
To prepare some tasty tartines, we suggest Redoro green olive cream, or Blu all'oseleta cream from I Sapori del Portico: bold and yet unique flavors, perfect for an exquisite appetizer of excellent quality!
After the appetizer, it’s time to serve the first courses. For Father's Day, we thought of some very tasty, rich, and flavorful dishes like lasagna and pappardelle with ragù. What is your favorite dish? Choose the one you like best, the important thing is that the ingredients are the right ones! For example, the dough for the lasagna: with Felicetti Grano duro all'uovo sheet from the Felicetti pasta factory, you can be sure of the success of your dish! If you prefer pappardelle, we recommend the artisanal egg pappardelle Columbro: a unique flavor that pairs perfectly with ragù!
Speaking of ragù, it takes a long time to prepare an excellent homemade one. In case you don’t have enough time, we recommend a truly exceptional one: the wild boar ragù sauce from agriturismo Il Poggio, all the flavor of Tuscany in a truly exceptional sauce! You just need to add the pasta to the already prepared ragù in a pan, let it simmer on low heat for a few minutes, and you’ll have a dish with an intense and unforgettable flavor!
If you don't like ragù, try the Neapolitan sauce with Piennolo tomatoes from Vesuvius, for an exceptional taste experience, sweeter and more delicate yet with defined tones that only a sauce made with this type of special tomatoes can offer to the palate.
For the ideal second course for Father's Day, a classic roast with baked potatoes is undoubtedly the perfect dish. The Oven-roasted loin from the Pavoncelli salumificio is undoubtedly the best choice: it’s a typical product of Italian delicatessens, made using boneless pork loins that are brined and flavored with a marinade made of spices and aromatic herbs; it is cooked and vacuum packed, ready to be used to create the dish, to be paired with baked potatoes or boiled beans. Truly exceptional!
If you prefer a more delicate second course, you can opt for the herb-roasted ham, also produced by the Pavoncelli salumificio, which paired with potatoes or grilled vegetables will be a tasty and genuine second dish!
Alongside the second course, pair it with a tasty aged cheese: we recommend the Malga Lentiai aged cheese, produced by Latteria di Lentiai, or an aged truffle cheese from La Casara, for a unique and exquisite taste with a distinctly truffled aroma, or a reserve aged cheese from Corrado Benedetti, or an Aged Asiago DOP Oro del Tempo from Agriform, the exaltation of cheese!
To accompany the Father's Day dinner, we recommend a full-bodied red wine like the Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Classico Superiore Le Bertarole, which pairs perfectly with meat dishes and aged cheeses.
To close the dinner beautifully, we recommend a typical St. Joseph dessert: the famous zeppole, the most classic and traditional dessert to celebrate this occasion. These are cream puffs that are baked or fried, filled with pastry cream and garnished with powdered sugar and a cherry. We recommend the recipe in its most classic version, that is the fried one.
To make the zeppole, you need eggs, butter, water, flour, salt, cornstarch, vanilla, sugar, milk, fresh liquid cream. For frying, peanut oil, and for the final garnish, powdered sugar and preserved cherries. To prepare the dough, pour the water into a pot, add the butter in pieces and a pinch of salt. Place it on the stove and stir to melt the butter. Then add the flour and mix. When the mixture is ready, pour everything into a bowl. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and add them to the mixture, mixing everything together. Once ready, shape the dough into forms that will be placed in hot oil. Once they have cooled, garnish with pastry cream, powdered sugar, and the cherry. They are delicious!
To finish gracefully: bubbles, coffee, and a sweet treat! The ideal final toast for Father's Day could be with Prosecco DOC Treviso Rosalia Extra Dry, with a fine perlage and a strong, soft, and balanced taste. The perfect coffee for the occasion is Fusari ground moka coffee, a blend with a strong and round flavor, with hints of toasted dried fruit, truly unique!
We end with a really special sweet treat: Nonno's cookies from Pasticceria Venezia, healthy and genuine but perfect to pair with coffee. And if you prefer a chocolate treat, we recommend the Domori Gianduiotti Symphony: the excellence of Turin chocolate. Want to give your father a precious gift? The Domori Gianduia Heart is the perfect gift, a classic with a unique style, that will offer a velvety, persistent, pure, and harmonious flavor experience.
