The comeback of Italian cheese.

For a period of time, it seemed that the economies of the two most important Italian cheeses, Grana Padano DOP and Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, were headed for an uncontrollable crisis.
Especially for Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, the data on milk overproduction and international economic conditions seemed to particularly penalize it. The domestic market indeed saw a significant decline. As in many other cases, the made in Italy product needed to achieve positive performances, especially abroad, to resist the backlash.

However, the data seemed contradictory also due to the Russian financial collapse, which represents one of the most interesting markets for its evolution in recent years. Now, the final figures for the first 11 months of 2014 have arrived, and the data is indeed reassuring. Exports, according to Consortium data, show +2.5% for Parmigiano Reggiano DOP and +3% for Grana Padano DOP.
The forms sold amount to 1.6 million on the international market. Approximately 20,000 from the Russian market are missing.
Question. What if all the counterfeit products found on the market were suppressed? Unfortunately, it is indeed a crime that continues and does not receive the appropriate attention from European authorities.

In Italy, the data shows a recovery in consumption, which will solidify by mid-year.
