The birth of the artisan workshop of ChocoHouse is due to the enterprising spirit and passion of Enrico, a young man who decided to deepen and develop one of the artisan activities of his beloved Sicily: the production of real Sicilian chocolate. ChocoHouse's chocolate production also includes an offer of stay at a charming chocolate-themed B&B, where the name of each room recalls a variety of Criollo cacao, the oldest and rarest cacao in the world used to produce chocolate.
ChocoHouse is immersed in a wonderful landscape and cultural context, namely the city of Ragusa, in the heart of southeastern Sicily. Let's now get to know the unique and special reality of ChocoHouse more closely.
The Iblean territory is truly magical, a place where ancient suggestions and traditions come to life. Here, art, culture, nature, history, and good cuisine blend together to create a privileged space where creativity and tradition have given Enrico the impetus to set up the artisan workshop of ChocoHouse.
To be precise, we should say that ChocoHouse is located in Ragusa Ibla, the oldest district of the historical center of Ragusa, called Iusu in the Ragusan dialect. This neighborhood is situated in a privileged location, in the eastern part of the city, atop a hill from which you can see the rest of the city: a true spectacle! It is indeed in this place that the best Sicilian chocolate comes to life, prepared and packaged by hand according to the recipes of the oldest and most local Sicilian chocolate tradition, highly appreciated worldwide.
We must clarify one thing: the Sicilian chocolate from ChocoHouse is not Modica chocolate, the only product that obtained IGP certification in 2018. So, what is Sicilian chocolate? First of all, we must say that both types share the fact that they are strictly dark chocolate and that both follow the centuries-old Sicilian traditional recipe. Sicilian chocolate is therefore, in general, an ancient chocolate, produced artisanally to emphasize its origins far back in time.
The Sicilian chocolate is a dark chocolate made only with cacao, sugar, and any flavors, all coming from Sicily and will never contain milk as an added ingredient. The main characteristic that stands out to the consumer is undoubtedly the elegance of the bar. Sicilian chocolate undergoes the same tempering process used for traditional chocolate, giving the bars a notable shine that lasts over time.
To produce its Sicilian chocolate, ChocoHouse uses noble ingredients that, thanks to the skill of master chocolatiers, can create the best traditional Sicilian chocolate, appreciated for its refined creaminess. The sugar plays a very important role, as it must be only and exclusively cane sugar and, as required by the ancient recipe, is processed in such a way that the granules remain whole, giving the bar its typical granular consistency that differentiates this type of chocolate from that commonly found on the market.
Do you know what the secret ingredient is? The passion of ChocoHouse for chocolate from tradition and love for their land, Sicily!
The Sicilian chocolate of ChocoHouse is not just a simple chocolate bar, but much more. ChocoHouse's chocolate wants to offer a complete sensory experience because, in addition to the very characteristic flavor of the chocolate so crafted and its flavorings, these chocolate bars encapsulate and reflect the true essence of Sicily from times past.
A chocolate that, in a single bite, will reveal to the taster an explosion of flavor that symbolizes an entire community, that of the artisan workshop of a long-gone era, a sense of community that still belongs to us today and unites us throughout Italy, from North to South. The very idea of the artisan workshop that ChocoHouse carries forward is therefore a way to enhance the traditions of a territory rich in excellence like Sicily, and particularly the Ragusa area.
ChocoHouse with its chocolate tells a story of taste and sharing that strikes deep. Tasting a bar of ChocoHouse chocolate is indeed a true journey of taste that, when approached with awareness, will lead you to discover the history of cacao, from harvesting to its processing that gives life to true masterpieces of sweetness.
