'Zucchino d'Oro' and 'Zecchino d'Oro': a

letter with two meanings

You won't believe it but, yes, this infamous Golden Zucchini really exists, although most likely, indeed certainly, the large part of those users were actually looking for information about the Golden Zecchino that we all know well. But let's see together the differences and characteristics of these two competitions that actually exist, but which, as you can guess, refer to different things. But to what?
Let's start with the Golden Zecchino, a name that speaks for itself, because who doesn't know the iconic musical competition that stars children? Perhaps what you don't know are its origins, in fact, it was born in 1959 from an idea by Cino Tortorella as a new television format in which songs are interpreted by children between the ages of 3 and 11.

The Golden Zucchini, on the other hand, is not a fruit and vegetable competition for those who cultivate zucchini best. Oh yes, I know you thought about it, sorry to disappoint you. In truth, it is also a singing competition, but this one takes place in Lombardy, precisely in the town of Bizzozero. It was founded in 1978 as an alternative musical Sunday on the occasion of Mother's Day at the parish oratory to create a moment of encounter and celebration for the children of the Parish and not. You're probably wondering, but what does the name have to do with it?

Well, they were inspired by the fact that in that area there are vast plantations of the famous Albenga Zucchini and therefore from here the Golden Zucchini Festival.

The Golden Zucchini according to Spaghetti & Mandolin

You have seen so far how a letter can radically change the meaning of a word. But for us at Spaghetti & Mandolino, who place typical Italian and quality products at the center of our philosophy, there is not a single Golden Zucchini, because every type of zucchini on the peninsula is for us. First you should know that there are two varieties: white zucchini and dark zucchini. The color is not the only thing that sets them apart, but the flavor and the nutritional properties within them also differ.
It is a dynamic and versatile ingredient, much loved in diets, which can be used for countless recipes and combined with as many ingredients. Let's see together how this zucchini is used in the kitchen!

With zucchini in the kitchen you can only go wild because you can cook it in every way and combine it with different types of vegetables and vegetables such as: peppers, carrots, potatoes, eggplants, pumpkin, green beans, artichokes but also with mushrooms and legumes. In addition, having a neutral and delicate flavor, it is a perfect ingredient for seasoning pasta, rice and cereals, such as barley and spelt, but also for preparing soups and cold dishes. If, on the other hand, you prefer a stronger flavor, you can add spices and aromatic herbs such as ginger, pepper, coriander, turmeric and curry.
As you read before, there are two varieties, here are some tips to best highlight your recipes using the right zucchini! Zucchini in the kitchen: Cooking method

As for the cooking method, you really don't have to worry because our now famous zucchini lends itself to any type of cooking! You can steam it: cut the zucchini into slices or cubes and once the water starts to boil, insert the basket suitable for steaming with the vegetables and leave them to cook for 5-7 minutes. Once ready, you can salt them and serve with extra virgin olive oil. You can also make them boiled: immerse the zucchini in hot water for 8-10 minutes, drain and season them. If, on the other hand, you prefer to cook them in the oven, just wash them under running water, dry them and cut them into slices. At this point you can cook them in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 15/20 minutes, stirring at least 1 or 2 times to prevent them from sticking.
