The countries that base a large part of their commercial activities on the spice market belong to this cluster. Afghanistan, Brunei Darussalam, the United Republic of Tanzania, and Vanuatu will exhibit here. Each country will showcase in its stands all the spices they cultivate in wooden containers.
A journey into spices
A journey into the exotic and into colors. The Cluster concept has been designed as an itinerary. The spice trade routes, real expeditions full of adventure, risks, and encounters or clashes with local populations, will be showcased. Similarly, visitors will find themselves retracing these itineraries and reliving the sense of discovery, savoring and enjoying the proposed aromas. Some historians argue that the voyages to the new continents were driven by the desire to find new, low-cost spices.
Spices were and still are used in cooking to flavor and preserve food, such as cheeses (think of pepper cheese or Bagòss with saffron) and cured meats like: Lard with black pepper, Soppressa, Mortadella, and Salama from Ferrara. They had and still have medicinal properties, with many natural medicines, such as Ayurveda, being based on them. Another major field of use is cosmetics.
The future is bright for the spice market, which is constantly growing. It is expected that their consumption will increase in relation to healthier eating.
