The Solidarity Christmas of Spaghetti & Mandolino: What we want to "Do" together

This year, the Christmas gifts from Spaghetti & Mandolino, in addition to representing the excellence of food and wine products and small, high-quality producers, become solidarity-based. Why solidarity?

Because this year we have decided that, for every gift package sold, we will donate 1 euro to the social enterprise Fare which will use it to hire a person affected by disability for a duration of 6 months, but we hope even longer, to be included within a company.

The goal that this reality aims for is to ensure that this individual is directly involved in the operations of a production line of an external company that relies on "Fare", subcontracting some specific activities related to the production process.

Once become a key element of the production line, the person will start to play a key role for the contracting company, thus having the opportunity to be hired permanently.

Who is Fare?

Fare is a company that was born and developed with the aim of transforming the hiring of disabled people from a legislative obligation to a resource. In 2017, it was among the winners of the "SIAVS - Innovative Startup with a Social Vocation" tender promoted by the Lombardy Region and Unioncamere Lombardy, having also been admitted with the highest score for social impact.

Fare's challenge is to transform the perception of disabled workers: from an obstacle to the productivity and profitability of the company, into an indispensable resource to be employed throughout the entire production chain. The secret? Allowing them to showcase their potential through tools and processes that meet their needs.

So what did we ask Fare here at Spaghetti & Mandolino? That all compensation be given to the individual. We hope that our choice can help many people, giving them an opportunity that would likely, unfortunately, take a long time to arrive.

Why did Spaghetti & Mandolino choose Fare?

Spaghetti & Mandolino chose Fare because we firmly believe that providing professional job opportunities to people who would not otherwise have the chance is truly important, perhaps more than donating to associations where the actual final destination of the money received through donations is unknown.

We also believe that defining small but well-defined goals, such as the possibility of starting a guaranteed 6-month internship compensated with €500 per month, is a sure way to successfully complete a task, albeit limited, within a larger and more articulated social chain.

We think that the know-how and experience of the two founding partners of Fare can be an inspiration and a guide for these and other people, with the hope of creating a better future, where equal opportunities are not just words, but concrete actions.

For whom and how are our food and wine Christmas gift packages designed?

The food and wine Christmas gift packages from Spaghetti & Mandolino are designed for lovers of typical products. They have been created and designed by dividing them into "passions": appetizers, first courses, cheeses, cured meats, sweets, truffles, mushrooms.

A bit of all the culinary vices of human beings, only that instead of mixing them, we chose to create a tailor-made selection for each of these thematic areas.

They are designed to captivate those who receive the package, making each element contained within it unique and precious. Quality, craftsmanship and, last but not least, an inimitable taste, following an ethic of production based more on quality than quantity.

We designed our Christmas packages primarily for all those companies that want to give their employees something different from the usual panettone and bottle, that is, an experience of products that they are unlikely to ever taste since it is difficult, if not impossible in most cases, to find them in large distribution.

However, they are also designed for all those people who would like to send a message made of flavors and memories to children, friends, and relatives studying or working in other parts of Italy or abroad.
