Tenuta Sette Ponti: a royal vineyard between Arezzo and Florence

The Sangiovese clones that surround the Moretti Cuseri family estate have a noble lineage, coming from the vines planted by Duke Amedeo of Savoy way back in 1935: together with the olive trees, the vineyards of the territory initially offered their fruits for outsourced production, which only in the 90s of the last century was transformed into a modern business project that includes the vinification of grapes.

Let's discover the merits of this brand together with Antonio Moretti Cuseri and his sons Alberto and Amedeo

.

Antonio, what was the first label produced with the grapes of the “Vigna dell'Impero

”?

In 1998 we produced our first wine, Crognolo. The latter takes its name from a local plant with a rigid stem, which produces small red berries and is very common in this area. The following year, however, we inaugurated the first vintage of Oreno, perhaps the most popular of our production.

Taking a step back, the name “Vineyard of the Empire” originates from the reason why the viceroy of Savoy wanted to plant it: the celebration of the conquest of Abyssinia by Italy. If at the time the vineyard was celebrating a military act, it can be said that it is now celebrating the flavor of this IGT denomination, managed under organic farming by our team

.

Where does the name of the Estate, on the other hand, come from?

The Seven Bridges of the name refer to the seven roads that cross the Arno between Arezzo and Florence, connecting the two cities. The estate covers 350 hectares, with a variation in altitude from 250 to 300m above sea level. The soil consists mainly of clay shale, the famous galestro, which helps to retain water when it rains: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot vines grow on it

.

Who makes up your team today?

In addition to me, both of my children have been working in the company, since 2018. Alberto is director of export and communication, while Amedeo is responsible for managing the Italian market. We are supported by oenologists and consultants, but we personally taste all the varieties we produce: we feel like a team with a common dream, which we see

fulfilled day by day.
