Sorrento. The delightful romance.

There are places in the world that, when merely mentioned, ignite strong emotions. Sorrento is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and the De Curtis brothers immortalized it with the famous song that we all occasionally hum: “torna a Surriento, nun me lassà!”

Summer has arrived; the sun, the sea, the light, and the wind are what we all awaited the most. There are few places in the world that tell of romance and beauty like Sorrento. There are places where time has stood still, enchanted between the blue of the sky and the baroque of the streets. Via San Cesareo, the Vallone de Mulini, are a bubbling of vitality and scents released from the ancient shops. Chatter and shouts invite tourists to see, smell, and taste all the delights of this paradise perched upon the rock. Down at the tip, Capo Sorrento, where the sun sets and leaves people in awe, ecstatic, silent, and excited.

In Surriento, the sea breeze carries the saltiness and flavor of the water, intoxicating the narrow alleys, the small marinas, the sudden climbs, the Moorish domes, and the bell towers with its scent. The people of Sorrento are born to welcome and share. It’s the Neapolitan comedy that becomes daily life here, simple and supported by the values of the sea.

Surriento, the delightful, rich in flavors and fragrances that few other villages can express along the coast. Hidden treasures find their identity among the marine taverns and the small restaurants overlooking the sea. Summer is worth a visit to the pearl of the coast. Between Marina Grande and Piccola lie plants and flowers of bright and undefinable colors, shimmering and highly fragrant. A scent that blends with the saltiness and the Mediterranean scrub.

Sorrento is a cradle of flavors, of an ancient cuisine, simple yet at the same time succulent. All the red of the tomato, from the Corbarino of the coast to the legendary San Marzano, an icon of Neapolitan production, up to the luxurious Piennolo del Vesuvio, the tomato of Pulcinella adored by the great Totò. The white of the Mozzarella di Bufala Campana, with its thick crust and creamy milk that drips profusely. The green of basil by the sea... the three main ingredients for a typical Neapolitan pizza that here in Sorrento is enriched with the flavors of the sea. The wine of the coast, rich, ancient, fragrant, and intriguing like few others. Mainly white, but also red and rosé. Old vineyards embedded among the rocks shaped like little trees for a heroic, almost inaccessible harvest. In Sorrento, there is so much in such a small space; nature has concentrated the miracle of beauty. The miracle of Italy.
