Ground coffee, in beans and in capsules: history and information

Coffee is always present in Italians' routine. Whether for breakfast every day, for a break from work or for a digestive after lunch, c&' the classic cup of coffee, macchiato, long, bitter or sugary, is always on our tables or in our hands and whoever has more. But it is not only the preparation that distinguishes good coffee from one of poor quality, on the contrary, it is above all the raw material, and we at Spaghetti and Mandolino understand quality. Here you can find all the best varieties of coffee, checked and certified, in all the formats you may need, and you don't even have to leave home to get them, we'll take care of bringing them to

you!

Types of Coffee: Arabica, Robusta, Liberica and Excelsa

Among the 60 species of the coffee plant, there are four that make the best-selling and most recognized beans: Arabica coffee, Robusta coffee, Liberica coffee and Excelsa coffee.
The Arabica coffee variety is widely cultivated in all tropical regions and, with its small, flat and elongated grains, is the most delicate and aromatic of the variants, as well as being the least bitter. The beans, furrowed by a characteristic “s” shaped slit, are the most valuable and the most cultivated. Robusta coffee owes its name to the resistance of the plant that produces it: this, in fact, adapts well to different climatic conditions and resists very well to &' attack by diseases and parasites. For this reason, the cultivation of this type of coffee was introduced in &' the nineteenth century to replace some weak and sick Arabica coffee plantations. Compared to the beans of this paragraph' last, those of the Robusta variety are rounder and richer in caffeine, which makes the coffee obviously more bitter but also more intense, dense and rich in aromatic notes that suggest chocolate. Then we find Liberica coffee, originally from the name, Liberica coffee, which is also widespread in the forests of the Ivory Coast. The plant is very resistant and has large, fragrant grains which, however, are considered inferior to those of the previous qualities. L&' the last of the most common varieties is L&' Excelsa, relatively young because it was discovered in 1904. From the very resistant plant, quite fragrant grains are obtained, even if this is used more often as a graft to promote the growth of other more delicate and valuable varieties

The various formats of coffee: ground coffee, beans, capsules and pods

If in the past we were mostly used to seeing coffee powder at home, or at least coffee beans, with the new machines, domestic and not, new formats appear. Each one has its uses, its strengths and weaknesses. Coffee beans, for example, have experienced a rebirth with the spread of machines that, before preparing our favorite drink, grind the beans directly. This is one of the best ways to savor the true aroma of coffee, since ground beans, if not stored with due precautions, lose most of their aroma in a short time. This is why the most recent methods of storing powder, namely capsules and pods, enclose the ground product in a single-dose package in a protected atmosphere, to ensure that contact with air and humidity does not affect its quality. These two formats have one big thing in common, convenience, the difference lies in the type of wrapper used, which in the case of pods is made of biodegradable cellulose

Coffee properties

For most Italians and for more and more people in the world, coffee has become the companion of every breakfast, every break, and not without a reason. Now a ritual, an indispensable tradition for many people, the classic cup of coffee can bring many benefits to the &' body, even if you have

to be careful not to overdo it.

Benefits of Coffee

The most famous substance present in this delicious drink is senz&' other than caffeine, to which we owe the many properties of coffee. First of all, this substance has a stimulating effect not only on digestion, but also on heart and nervous functions: from here comes first the tradition of drinking coffee after a large meal and secondly the tendency to consume it to wake up or stay awake, exploiting its energy effect. Coffee can also stimulate weight loss, if drunk bitter, because, in addition to facilitating l&' use of fats and the consumption of calories, it also limits

&' appetite.

Risks of excessive coffee consumption

Despite these obvious benefits, you should not overdo it with coffee, since excessive consumption exposes you to various risks. For example, since the &' digestive effect derives from an increase in the production of gastric juices in the stomach, so those who suffer from gastritis, ulcers or gastroesophageal reflux must be careful. In addition, in the case of hypertension or insomnia, the energy and stimulating effect of coffee may worsen the condition, or cause tachycardia or changes in blood pressure in those who would otherwise be healthy. #39 Finally, excessive coffee consumption can hinder l&' absorption of calcium and iron; for this and other reasons it is best not to overdo it.

In any case, if excessive consumption is avoided, coffee is a very valid ally, as well as having now become a tradition and a daily treat. So, what are you waiting for? Go and browse through our proposals, you will find flavors, varieties and formats for all your needs!
