Active since 1995, the Chocolate Company's main mission is to raise public awareness of the inestimable value of cocoa. It is the most active non-profit association in the world of chocolate, made up of experienced consumers and chocolate enthusiasts. They protect its consumption, informing and consciously advising their members.
Thanks to her contribution, she soon became a point of reference in the defense of fine Italian chocolate. The Company defines itself as a group of friends united by a love for chocolate, who have been traveling in Italy and abroad for over 25 years with the objective of discovering pleasure and objective quality. Since the origins of the Company, there have been numerous initiatives undertaken by members, thus making it one of the associations most dedicated
to its purpose.Among the various activities, the Company organizes training courses for Chocolate Tasters, future professional chocolate tasters, tasting and pairing evenings, study and refresher conferences up to thematic events of various types. Over the years, the association has published a detailed analysis of the chocolates for sale in Italy, together with various Cocoa and Chocolate Notebooks, real tools for disseminating the various aspects of this world. With the “Golden Tablet Award”, the group nominates the best Italian chocolates every year, through a strict selection process. In addition, he has collaborated with the Salon au Chocolat in Paris, also participating in the major international chocolate fairs. In 2013 he launched the project (still active today) “The places of cocoa”, to discover and choose the best raw materials to offer, exclusively for plantation, to Italian chocolatiers. The producer countries involved are Venezuela, Ecuador and Colombia.
With all its initiatives, the Company is mainly aimed at the widest range of those who love the flavor of cocoa, who experience it as a comfort food and who want to know more, and to the narrower group of conscious consumers who have followed the revolution in the gastronomic world and want to immerse themselves totally in the world of cocoa and chocolate.
The Company offers the opportunity to all fans of this world to become members of the group. As a member you would become an integral part of associative life, you could collaborate in the activities of your city's tablet or become its promoter, taking advantage of special discounts and the opportunity to participate in events exclusive to members. An additional advantage is to receive a tasting box with the highest quality Italian artisanal chocolates produced by various companies, including the winners and finalists of the Tavoletta d'Oro Award.
After having dedicated itself for a long time to the promotion and dissemination of chocolate, with this project the Company is finally tackling the topic of chocolate raw materials. As we have already seen, the association is working on this project in three South American countries.
In Venezuela, in particular, cacao grows in two areas of the territory. The “criollo” species, with a fruity flavor, is born in the area south of Lake Maracaibo, while the “forastero” species, an ordinary bean, grows in the Orinoco Delta basin and in the Amazon area on the border with Brazil. In the 18th century, cacao became so important that the owners of cacao farms were named based on the amount of cacao trees they owned. 'Don' was the one who owned at least 10,000, while it was 'Gran Cacoa' who had more than 50,000 in his company, a real symbol of wealth and prosperity. In the past, Venezuela was the world's leading cocoa producer, but today it holds only 0.5%. Nevertheless, it is undeniable that it is precisely this magical and fascinating land that gives the best grains in
the world. For this special project, the Company was responsible for the mapping and selection of some cocoas from specific areas, which are part of the selected cocoas and then granted exclusively to Italian chocolatiers.
