Along with Trentino Alto Adige and Valle d'Aosta, it is the third region with special status in Northern Italy. In fact, his story is written in the blood and in the divisions of peoples. That of the 20th century was a sad story that affected Friulian lands and people indelibly. But the people of Friuli are famous for their strength, their courage to rise up, to defeat adversity. The 1976 earthquake proved that the Friulian is indomitable and that the word defeat and resignation does not exist in its DNA.

The hills where the greatest white wines in the world are produced today, Collio, after the First World War, was a pile of rubble and death. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers died among the peaks razed to the ground and literally modified by the bombing. Today they are one of the most suggestive places in the Italian vineyard. Trieste is a noble lady, charming and modern. Daughter of the world and mother of peoples. Natural border between Western Mediterranean cultures and Slavic culture. Ancestral divisions that only she can transform into Central European culture and into strong bonds between the women and men

of young Europe.

TYPICAL FRIULIAN PRODUCTS

Trieste is the coffee port and this peculiarity has never been lost since its splendour in the era of the Serenissima Venetian Republic. Almost all Italian and European coffee passes through here. Illy, Hausbrandt, Segafredo, Lavazza and all the others load their coffee blends from East and West, right here, from these Trieste docks. Friuli Venezia Giulia already in its name divides its territory into three zones: the part close to the Veneto region and the province of Venice, with Pordenone, the Friulian region that borders the Karst and Istria, between Gorizia and Trieste, the Giulia area of the mountains and the Julian Alps in fact. Up there where the Collio climbs on the border with Slovenia until it reaches the Tarvisiano on the borders of Austria.

Not only wine, Friuli, is a region rich in typical products and traditional products. The art of refining pork legs is one of the most important production markets in Italy. Cormòns, Sauris, San Daniele, and many other places tell stories related to the production of raw and smoked hams to be cut with a knife in a clamp. San Daniele DOP has become the competitor, even if it is not a correct term, of Parma DOP. Its intensity of aromas and fragrances and its sapidity are testimony to different climates and butchery traditions. And the presence of a constant sea breeze that characterizes the entire valley that leads up to Tarvisio. A region that has sea, plains and mountains. The right pinnacle of our beautiful country. Long golden beaches that stretch as far as Grado and the beautiful Aquileia, the final end of the ancient Roman road Postojna.

In this diversified territory, there are not many certified products, while there are many traditional products and Slow Food Presidiums. Among the cheeses, the real cheese typical of Friuli is Montasio DOP and Carnia. A cheese that is part of the ancient cheese tradition of the Alpine foothills that extends from the Julian Alps to the Orobic Alps.
