There are economic choices that poison the Earth and consume the planet. Those who work alongside social frailties experience first-hand every day the consequences of ways of living that marginalize those who can't do it. To react to this scenario and give voice to a happier and more balanced development, Agri.Comes, an agricultural social cooperative that manages the activities in &' agriculture of the Community of Sasso Montegianni, has chosen to run &' a company according to the rules of &' Organic Agriculture, with techniques attentive to the correct management of soils, of &' water and &' air and that exclude &' use of chemical synthesis or genetically modified products. All this to carry out socio-labor inclusion projects designed and managed according to &' within the protected paths offered by a host community.
Chestnut and brown groves represent l&' an emblem of the local community's cultural, rural and gastronomic tradition. Until a few years ago, the activity of the families of Marradi and its surroundings revolved almost exclusively around &' careful and meticulous care for the chestnut groves, which provided what was necessary to meet the dietary needs of the farmers. #39 Not surprisingly, chestnut was commonly called by families in the valley, “l&' breadfruit”, precisely because a wide variety of dishes could be prepared from its fruits.
The chestnuts that come from these chestnut groves are nothing less than the “Marron Buono”, the real spearhead of Agri.Comes products, or a particular ecotype of PGI brown from the Mugello area (Protected Geographical Indication) pursuant to CEE regulation n. 2081/92: this important European recognition, obtained in 1996, has enhanced the chemical-physical, organoleptic and nutritional properties of this peculiar local product.
