AIS - Associazione Italiana Sommelier

L&' Italian Sommelier Association of Veneto was founded with l&' the objective of promoting knowledge of wine through the training of professionals who have the task of spreading a correct culture also in relation to local gastronomic traditions. These are the sommeliers, real qualified witnesses of the tasting of wine, of the territory, of tradition.
Wine, in fact, is not simply a drink but tells the story of &' man and passion for the territory.

Thanks to this, since its inception in 1971, the territorial section of Veneto has seen constant growth, both in terms of number of members and in terms of number and quality of initiatives, the purpose of such commitment is the dissemination of knowledge of the world of wine in general and the enhancement of Venetian wines in particular. As evidence of the role acquired in the sector, in 1974 AIS was recognized as a legal personality by decree of the President of the Republic. A great goal, achieved also thanks to the Venetian members who have promoted the development of &' national association, whose position of president has also been held by Venetian sommeliers. If today the professional qualification of AIS sommelier is synonymous with profound competence, it is therefore due to the school of great Venetian masters who have taught to value the relationship between wine and local traditions.
