It all began in Solignano Vecchio, in the town of Castelvetro in Modena, in &' immediately after the war. Franco Simonini, a great winemaker from Castelvetro, acquires a new farm where he decides, with his wife Margherita, to isolate the best Lambrusco vines in collaboration with the &' University of Bologna. In particular, it is dedicated to the native variety par excellence: Grasparossa. He manages to isolate a unique clone in the landscape of the denomination's clones and years later his nephew Francesco Gibellini with his uncle Massimo used it as the only clone for his great expressions of Lambrusco.
