Yurrita Groupis a &' family business founded in 1867. Originally it was dedicated to the production and sale of pickled or pickled fish that was sold by Mutriku, headquarters of &' company, throughout Spain thanks to horse-drawn carts. The original canning factory was located in the basement of the Yurrita family's house and was known as “Casa Mauleón”; this building is still the oldest of all those who dedicated themselves to the processing of fish.
L&' company was founded by D. José Miguel Mauleón and his daughter Francisca, who married Agapito Yurrita, continued the family work together with her husband, thus forming the second generation; in fact, it was she who decreed &' full entry of the Yurrita family into &' canning and salting industries. With five generations and almost 150 years of history, the Yurrita family is undoubtedly the' the oldest canning industry in the Basque Country and one of the oldest agri-food companies in Spain still in business.
Merged in the 1950s with Don Alfonso Yurrita Zumalabe, Yurrita e Figli opened up to the foreign market: l&' export was in fact a crucial step for the development of &' an enterprise during the complicated years of &' immediately after the war.
