Podere Casella Muzighin

The Azienda Agricola Podere Casella Muzighin is located in one of the most beautiful areas of the territory of the municipality of Urbania, the ancient Casteldurante, known as Orsaiola. The location is situated in the upper valley of the Metauro River, near the city of Urbino, in the heart of the magical Marche region.

The 5.5-hectare farm was purchased in 1980 by the Pizzoni family and in 2004, among the rows of ancient vines, the Aleatico vineyard was planted. The vineyard is cultivated exclusively with products permitted in organic farming and is currently in the process of conversion. After more than fifteen years of intense commitment, the productions have diversified, and in particular, the production of cherry wine has increased, which constitutes the main product. At the same time, the production of Aleatico passito, jams, and cherry distillate has been initiated. However, there is an irresistible desire to always offer original products of great quality.

The Azienda Agricola Podere Casella Muzighin produces numerous handcrafted products that feature visciole as the main ingredient. Visciole are a variety of wild sour cherry that are very ancient, which already grew alongside the Via Flaminia in ancient Rome. Considered the best sour cherries, Visciole have an intense flavor, not too sweet, but with an intriguing almond-like finish and a nice fresh and tangy sensation that makes them a truly versatile ingredient, suitable for various uses.

Muzighin has decided to showcase this fantastic fruit by creating truly unique products, such as wine, grappa, visciola jam, and finally visciolata, also known as visciole al sole.
