Bertolino: the story

Bertolino has its roots in the last century, when in 1945 in Omegna, on the shores of Lake Orta, its founder Bartolomeo Bertolino decided, together with his wife Antonietta, to start the business of marketing cheeses produced in the alpine pastures and dairies of the nearby valleys. From the beginning, the company was characterized by its philosophy of researching and selecting genuine local cheeses and characteristic products made according to tradition in the areas of Alto Piemonte. Bartolomeo’s choice united his passion for dairy products with that for the territories where the different cheeses were made. It was in the first half of the Seventies that the company saw further strong growth thanks to the entry of Costanzo and Gianpiero, the sons of Bartolomeo and Antonietta, who decided to carry on their parents' passion. From the initial business of marketing, the company specialized in the aging of typical cheeses, expanding its selection territories from Cusio to the Valli dell'Ossola and even to the nearby Valsesia. The process therefore became more complex but the skills acquired over the years allowed the Bertolino brothers to offer a quality proposal, often unique, to their clientele. The company continues its development and evolution thanks to the entry of the third generation, Gianpiero's children. They provide the impetus for technological innovation that allows, through the creation of a new plant, to improve and increase the aging capacity of mountain cheeses. The range of products offered has expanded significantly.
