Sorcato di Sopra, in the rich territory of Valpolicella, it is possible to find Ferragù, a winery founded in 1997 and today one of the reference realities for the production of the great Venetian classics, from Amarone to Recioto. Ferragù is the fruit of the genius of Carlo who, together with his brothers Ornello and Angelo, dedicates himself every day with passion to the production of quality labels 100% Made in Veneto that have enjoyed great success not only in Italy and Europe, but also overseas thanks to an unmistakable
quality.
Ferragù and the link with
the territory
The Ferragù vineyards are located in a hilly area with unique characteristics and lush splendour, land where some of the most famous red wines in Veneto are produced. We are obviously talking about Valpolicella, a territory that covers the entire foothills of the province of Verona, starting from Lake Garda up to the borders of Vicenza, and characterized by a sweet, dry and sunny climate beneficial to the vineyards that cover it and for those who, from generation to generation, carry on the wine tradition.
But within this vast territory, where is Ferragù? Precisely, it is located in the Val d'Illasi, about twenty kilometers from the city of Verona. This valley has a rather varied landscape, characterized by plains, mountains and hills for most of its extension. The territory of great red wines of Veneto makes use of a temperate climate on which Carlo himself, a concrete man, resolute and intolerant of settings, relies on. It is thanks to this climate, respected and revered as much as the landscape and environmental value of the place, that one of the best Amarone is produced, the Amarone of the Ferragù Company with a garnet red color, with a vaunted impenetrable purple color, a significant reality of this valley full of history that has nothing to envy to the Amarone produced in the area west of Verona and which must be tasted with phlegm,
slowly, sip after sip.
Ferragù wines: the nectar of the Valpolicella tradition
When the grapes leave the rows, Carlo and his brothers immediately get to work. The Ferragù winery combines tradition — with tools and tools of the past — and technology, thanks to the most modern machinery. Tradition and modernity mix to recreate an intense and impenetrable ruby red nectar with a sublime and mischievous scent, with a full and persistent taste.
The grapes are crushed and the must transferred to the fermenter to macerate for about thirty-five hours at a controlled temperature. Then, the fermentation begins, which will last about ten days. French and American oak barrels are used for aging, whose essence gives even more emphasis to the aroma of Ferragù wine. All this makes it possible to obtain a quality product, high expression and the right affinity of purpose of the Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Croatina and Oseleta grapes. And this is precisely why, since the beginning of the activity, Ferragù products are able to establish themselves in international markets, reaching the windows of the largest luxury stores, such as Harrods. On the other hand, this should not be surprising: in the Ferragù winery, harvest and work follow one another within a production reality in which each bottle tells a story made of
