The Agricultural Society Bonfanti Sergio S.S. is a family-owned winery located in Valpolicella. The mind and creator of this activity is Sergio Bonfanti, an entrepreneur with a great passion for wine. In fact, in the early 2000s, he purchased a small estate of about 5 hectares located 350 meters above sea level, in the Quinzano area within the Valpolicella DOC, just five km from Verona.
The story of Sergio Bonfanti is the story of a man willing to risk everything in pursuit of his dreams: indeed, although he does not come from the wine sector but rather from engineering, he confidently invested in a new business that, with great passion, is making its way into the national and international market, bringing him closer to prominent enologists and agronomists in the wine field.

Bonfanti Wines: love for the land and tradition

The philosophy of the company is focused on the territory in which the wine produced is the expression of its terroir, the calcareous soil, the climate influenced by the proximity of untouched forests, and the work of man. The small size of the vineyard has allowed it to be treated carefully and diligently, like a small creature.

All of this has allowed for the enhancement of the soil's characteristics, adopting cultivation practices that enable the production of high-quality grapes by abandoning synthetic products such as pesticides and herbicides. The Bonfanti vineyard and winery are organic certified, therefore all production, harvesting, and winemaking procedures, carried out under the control and guidance of qualified enologists, comply with the regulations for organic wines issued by the E.U. Every phase of the winemaking process operates in full respect of organic production and fully respects environmental needs.

The Bonfanti Agricultural Company firmly believes in the principles of tradition and sustainability, in fact, the respect for tradition, the uniqueness of wines, and the protection of nature are and will be the values that will be passed on to future generations.

Bonfanti, a love story for its own Land

The wines of the Bonfanti company are nothing but the extraordinary result of what Valpolicella offers: it is the climate, the air, the sun, and the earth that allow for the cultivation of a unique, aromatic, and intensely flavored grape.
The Bonfanti vineyard is located on the hills of Valpolicella, on soil rich in calcareous and fossil deposits overlooking Quinzano, and offers the vineyard a privileged position facing south-southwest, where the sun exposure is perfect for grape ripening. And indeed, it is the climate that is another point of advantage. Mild overall throughout the year, the area boasts total protection to the north from the Lessini mountains and good exposure to light towards the south, allowing the vineyards to be pampered by Mediterranean-type sun throughout the ripening phase. But clearly, for a good wine, a lot of technique is also required, and Sergio Bonfanti knows this well, which is why extreme care is given to every single phase of vineyard processing, using organic fertilizers and techniques such as chisel plowing, leaving the residues in place, a process that allows for a natural enrichment of organic substances. And to show total respect for the land that offers so much, the company has also decided to invest in the exclusive use of drip irrigation systems, an essential tool to minimize water waste.

The Bonfanti vineyards: cultivation areas and planted varieties

Valpolicella is the land that gives rise to some of the most renowned Italian red DOC and DOCG wines. In addition to the cultivation of typical Venetian varieties such as Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Garganega, Glera, and Molinara, to which 90% of Bonfanti Wines' production is dedicated, the company has also planted international varieties such as Chardonnay and Merlot, as well as varieties such as Croatina and Moscato Giallo. The grapes from the Bonfanti winery are hand-harvested and artisan vinified at the Negrar winery; there, the main winemaking, aging, and bottling operations are concentrated according to typical organic wine procedures.

The wines of the Bonfanti Winery

The production of Bonfanti winery ranges from red wines to white wines and sparkling wines, but the reds are truly the stars. From Valpolicella Docg to Amarone, passing through Rosso Verona IGT: the red wines of Bonfanti are intense, characterized by a good smoothness and non-aggressive tannins. Highly appreciated wines, multi-award-winning and recognized with some awards from The Wine Hunter. The white wines produced by the winery use Garganega and Chardonnay grapes. In addition to these, the catalog also includes a rosé and two sparkling wines called Prosecco millesimato BRUT DOC and Fior d’Arancio DOCG produced with Glera and Moscato Giallo grapes.
