Almost two hundred years of history, seven generations, one passionate goal: to create exquisite distillates from zero-km pomace, 100% Piedmontese. This is the portrait of Mazzetti d'Altavilla, the oldest distillery in the Northwest, which makes the distillation of individual grape varieties its flagship.
Mazzetti d’Altavilla has been distillers since 1846 and their name is a historic one well-known among enthusiasts of grappa and distillates. The headquarters of this historic distillery, born before the unification of Italy, represents an important reference point for tourism in Monferrato, serving as a tourist welcoming center to promote the culture of mindful tasting.
Mazzetti d’Altavilla boasts many records, such as longevity, with over 170 years of activity, but also the family-run management for such a long period. The key to the success of this continually growing business lies in tradition and the ability to innovate, but also in the production philosophy, which is uncompromising in substance as well as in packaging, all choices that allow us to say that grappa at Casa Mazzetti is first and foremost an emotion, as well as an elegant and captivating distillate.
Another advantage is certainly the rich female representation that, for two generations, provides an important contribution during the production and communication phases.
Mazzetti d’Altavilla: single grape distillates and high quality at 360 degrees
In the distillation process, some elements have remained indispensable, such as the freshness of zero-km pomace (the grape varieties are all from Piedmont to best enjoy the aromas and quality of the raw material) but also the underlying mission, which is to obtain single grape distillates to best enhance the typical notes of the various types, of which the most appreciated are Nebbiolo from Barolo and Barbaresco, Barbera, Moscato, Arneis, Ruchè, Dolcetto, and Chardonnay. However, the particular preservation in “salamoni,” the “discontinuous” distillation, and all the elements that contribute to the final quality of the product, such as the ancient pot still distillation method that offers unique scents and aromas with well-structured identities, the aging in barrels that allow the distillate to evolve and become poetry for meditation, but also the attractive packaging that makes this product a delight for the eyes, are equally important.
But that’s not all. Attentive to the quality of the raw materials and the environmental impact, the headquarters of Mazzetti d’Altavilla is “Green Inside” thanks to the green philosophy of energy sourcing that reduces carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. The electric car and the labels obtained from the environmental responsibility system are some of the other best practices of the company that make Grappa Mazzetti d’Altavilla eco-sustainable.
Mazzetti d’Altavilla products: grappa and more
The Mazzetti d’Altavilla range spans from young grappas to aged grappas, also offering special brandies, aged for up to 27 years, gin, and bitters. However, the Mazzetti d’Altavilla company is particularly fond of grappa, a great flagship for generations.
How do you taste grappa? Simply with the right glass and at the right time. This Italian distillate is not just an excellent after-dinner drink, but also a great aid in the kitchen when paired with culinary specialties, from appetizers to desserts, or used to create imaginative cocktails. Mazzetti d’Altavilla products are indeed ideal for mixology lovers.
