The Fattoria di Gratena is an organic farm since 1994, located on the hills of Arezzo, producing and selling certified organic olive oil and wine.

Gratena: a passion that connects generations

Gratena is an organic company that extends over the slopes of Pratomagno, in the locality of Pieve a Maiano, with 180 hectares, of which 16.5 are vineyards and 10 are olive groves. We bottle and certify everything as organic since 1994.

Fattoria di Gratena, managed by Fabio de Ambrogi, has been family-run for generations. It was initially purchased by the grandparents in 1968, and is now taken over by mom Rosanna and uncle Paolo Sieni.

Since 2000, it has been followed by Fabio de Ambrogi, the year when the conversion of old vineyards into new ones began. Fertilizations with manure, treatments with copper and sulfur, manual harvesting.
The key word is “Terroir” that the Gratena winery deeply respects to maintain their uniqueness, representing their unique way of working.

Thanks to winemaker Fabio Mecca, Fattoria di Gratena manages to create products that reflect the nature of their Terroir, working only with native grape varieties, the Sangiovese and the Gratena Nero.

Gratena has always worked in the vineyards and in the winery to give uniqueness; today, most of the production is directed 90% to the foreign market, covering Europe, especially Scandinavia, the USA, and Asia.

Fattoria di Gratena has received numerous awards among the farms in the province of Arezzo, recognitions that have further encouraged producers to invest in the area to fully utilize its production potential, to constantly improve quality, and to tackle new markets.

Gratena: organic wines from a unique Terroir

The Fattoria di Gratena works with the sole objective of achieving a quality identifiable with uniqueness. A large part of the production is exported, but we continue to follow the Italian market with a very qualified clientele capable of promoting the brand with the passion of those who believe in it.

The production of wines signed by Gratena is strictly the result of an organic process with a deep respect for the ecosystem and traditions.

The vineyard area is about 16 hectares, mainly occupied by Sangiovese and a local grape variety: the Gratena Nero.

The wine "Gratena" is a Chianti, definitely one of the most important wines produced by Fattoria di Gratena. As a Chianti, it is distinguished by its characteristic and original organoleptic profile. It is a red wine, still and dry, vinified from Sangiovese grapes in the context of the types provided by the denomination.

The Fattoria di Gratena winery produces about 60000 bottles of the wine "Gratena", demonstrating the importance of this wine within the company’s production.
