The forty hectares of the winery founded by Michele Castellani, now run by Sergio Castellani and his wife Maria along with their three children Michele, Martina, and Mara, testify to how the love and passion for the local grapes translate into the joy of tasting both table wines and dessert wines with excellent organoleptic characteristics, a strong personality, and unique traits, derived from a terroir enhanced in every characteristic.

Thus, the wines “I Castei” and “Ca’ del Pipa” are born, ready to enhance the food and wine pairings suggested by their respective technical sheets, from Amarone Classico Valpolicella Cinque Stelle – recommended to accompany roasts, game, and grilled meat – to the IGT Corvina Veronese, which pairs well with red meats and cheese platters; from the Recioto della Valpolicella Classico DOCG – suitable for dry pastries and chocolate – to the classic method sparkling wine, ideal for aperitifs.

The history of the Castellani winery

The founding nucleus of the winery was established in 1945 in Valgatara. We are in the province of Verona, in a settlement with ancient origins, considered for the attractiveness that these lands have exerted since prehistoric times: today, the municipality of Marano di Valpolicella is known for the production of Recioto, Amarone, and Valpolicella, a trio of fragrances also found in the winery's wine shop.

Over seventy years ago, the project was just a small family-run winemaking laboratory; now, that same reality is internationally recognized and manages all stages of production internally, from grape harvesting to bottling, with particular attention to the drying of the grapes. 

The awards received

Recognized by Wine Spectator since 2003, the winery earned four entries in the same year in the Guida Oro “I Vini di Veronelli”, two of which also appear in the Yearbook of the Best Italian Wines published by Luca Maroni (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 1999 “Campo Casalin”, Recioto della Valpolicella 2000 “Campo Casalin”, both DOC).

Mentioned by Gambero Rosso and Slow Food, it is included in the AIS mentions for Bibenda Editore, flawlessly reiterating its successes: Vinibuoni d’Italia in 2007 highlights its Amarone Classico della Valpolicella 2001 “Le Vigne”, while in the publication “Passiti d’Italia 2008”, curated by Cucina & Vini Editor, the classic Amarone della Valpolicella “Cinque Stelle” from 2003 is included.

Nominated by Wine Enthusiast since 2009 and by Wine Advocate since 2013, the Castellani winery is a guarantee of excellence deserving more than one toast.
