The Azienda Agricola Fratelli Foschi was born from the passion for agriculture and the enhancement of the territory by three brothers in the distant 1930s.
The farm, nestled in the beautiful and tranquil setting of the hills of Pieve di Rivoschio, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, started as a cattle ranch focused on dairy production.
Throughout nearly a century of history, the Fratelli Foschi agricultural company has undergone various transformations, reaching the present day, where the vision of sustainable agriculture has become reality, allowing for the production of organic products, typical of the area and beyond, genuine and of the highest quality, particularly legumes such as chickpeas and lentils.
Key word? Respect: the respect for the natural biological cycles of crops in combination with the typical pedoclimatic conditions of the area.
The beating heart of the project is the farm owned by the Foschi family for as many as 4 generations, spanning approximately 100 hectares in a territory as rugged as it is picturesque: it is precisely the landscapes of the Romagna hills, surrounded by coppice forests, spectacular gullies, and ancient villages, at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level, that create the perfect stage for this reality.
A sort of bucolic paradise immersed in the greenery and tranquility typical of those places where the more invasive forms of development typical of human civilization remain only at the margins.
In the first twenty or thirty years of activity, Fratelli Foschi acted exclusively as a dairy farm, thus becoming one of the largest suppliers to the local milk processing plant.
As time went on, the farm continued to specialize in cereal and forage production until reaching the threshold of the New Millennium, also adding the breeding of meat horses.
The company is currently managed by Filippo, alongside his son Luca, representing the youngest generation of the Foschi family. It is thanks to his contribution that the blend of commitment, passion for agriculture, and knowledge gained in the academic field becomes explosive: a real turning point in the company’s mission that approaches even more closely the issues connecting agriculture and environmental protection.
It is this generational change that has led the Azienda Agricola Fratelli Foschi to adopt agricultural practices oriented towards respect for the seasonal pedoclimatic cycles and the territory with the aim of creating genuine and high-quality organic products.
The gradual phasing out of synthetic chemical products in agricultural practices and adherence to a production protocol focused on respecting natural growth cycles, the environment, and biodiversity, combined with careful crop rotation, has thus improved the structure and the quantity of nutrients contained therein.
All products branded Fratelli Foschi are therefore certified organic by the Bioagricert body and brought to your home following the philosophy of the so-called "short supply chain": sown, cultivated, harvested, and packaged within the same farm, all agricultural products from Fratelli Foschi guarantee genuineness, quality, and goodness.
The Azienda Agricola Fratelli Foschi, besides typical local crops and products such as forage, soft and hard wheat, or straw, has progressively begun to introduce new products such as, among others, legumes, specifically chickpeas and lentils, as well as new cereals such as pearl barley.
Initially, cultivation was carried out in small experimental plots since these crops were not frequently practiced in the Pieve di Rivoschio area. Only later, once the most suitable varieties and cultivation practices were identified, did cultivation shift to a large scale.
All organic and whole products are indeed aimed at enhancing genuineness and quality, in harmony with nature and the territory. In short, good for the planet but also good for our health.
Chickpeas, for example, represent a unique source of carbohydrates and proteins among vegetables, while lentils are rich in iron and proteins.
On the other hand, pearl barley is a versatile cereal used mainly in zootechnics and brewing but can also provide great satisfaction on the table: it boasts high energy contents but low fat content.
Once harvested, barley undergoes a refining process that removes the outer part of the grain, called hull, making it more digestible and easy to use for preparing many healthy and tasty recipes.
