Cantine Dei: strong historical roots with an innovative vision

Cantina Dei was founded in 1964 when Alibrando Dei purchased the lands of Bossona, in the Montepulciano area, in Siena, where he planted the first vineyard. The soils immediately revealed ideal characteristics for the production of great red wines.

In the '70s, the Dei family expanded the business by also acquiring the Martiena lands.
The first bottle of Nobile di Montepulciano red wine was produced in 1985, a year of exceptional harvest. The Dei company continues to manage the winery, combining wisdom and ancient winemaking traditions with modernity and innovation.

The winery has always been able to renew itself, while remaining strongly rooted in its heritage and deep respect for the territory; it carefully manages the vineyards, working each vineyard with organic fertilizers, using natural fermentation and indigenous yeasts.

For Cantine Dei, wine is a heritage that, like the territory, must be protected. In fact, the peculiarities of the Terroir are enhanced to produce a balanced and quality wine.

Wines of Cantine Dei: balanced and quality wines

The Cantine Dei Company uses indigenous grapes from Tuscany such as Sangiovese, the base vine of the Chianti area, combining it with Canaiolo nero, a grape that adds softness to the red wine. Among the international varieties, fruity grapes like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are planted. With these premises, the famous Bossona Nobile di Montepulciano red wine is born.

The company also produces a fresh white wine with a mineral aftertaste, the Martiene. From the union of Sangiovese with Merlot and Sauvignon, the blend Sancta Catharina is born, with final notes of chocolate and spices.

The method of vineyard management is that of zoning: working on each individual vineyard so that each wine is identified with its vineyard of origin.

Cantine Dei takes care of each vineyard with skillful passion guiding the grapes through their natural ripening cycle. After selecting the clusters, remaining below the values per hectare set by the regulations, different and specific vinifications occur to enhance Sangiovese and produce a balanced wine that expresses the characteristics of the terroir.
