A story of passion for currants

Nido del Gelso is a &' a young and innovative farm that dedicates itself with passion to the specialized cultivation of Red Currant, following the most scrupulous criteria of SUSTAINABLE and ECO-FRIENDLY AGRICULTURE.

L&' company is located close to the city of Verona, in the setting of a historic country house “Ca Vecia”, recently renovated to host events and cultural events and able to offer a &' high-level hospitality.

L&' the owners' goal has always been to develop a &' agricultural enterprise that reflects the traditional values of &' Veronese agriculture and at the same time adopts the most modern cultivation systems.

After careful studies and research on the type of soil, on the microclimate of the territory and on other agronomic parameters, the RED CURRANT was chosen, a plant in many ways difficult to manage but able to offer great satisfaction in terms of fruit quality.

Fruit quality and nutritional and nutritional properties are closely linked to cultivation techniques. For this reason, NIDO DEL GELSO has decided to use only sustainable and integrated agriculture practices that greatly limit l&' use of pesticides compared to &' conventional agriculture. Insecticides that can in any way harm bees and other beneficial insects are not used. Synthetic fungicides are replaced with natural products and with useful microorganisms that defend the plant.

All plants are mycorrhized to exploit the natural symbiosis between currants and some soil fungi. Plant nutrition is carried out exclusively with natural and biological fertilizers, which improve the quality of currants and do not cause pollution of the &' environment.
