An elderly lady from Cercepiccola recounted a love story that long ago stole the hearts of two young people who lived in that small town in Molise. Adelardo, a young pastry chef, fell in love with the beautiful Antea who, unfortunately, completely ignored him.
Just as lavish banquets were offered to the Greek deities, Adelardo wanted to offer his goddess something tasty to delight her palate, and he created a heart of shortcrust pastry filled with fruit and had it delivered to her. Antea greatly appreciated that creation, so Adelardo decided to send her one every day with a different filling. Antea loved his sweets and slowly fell madly in love with him.
