LAVENDER: CHARACTERISTICS

Lavender is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the Mediterranean regions with blue-purple flowers, a penetrating aromatic scent, and a slightly bitter taste.

Lavender has several organoleptic properties. It exerts a sedative and calming effect on the nervous system and a balsamic action useful for treating colds. It has antispasmodic and diuretic properties. For external use, it has cleansing, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antibacterial, healing, and decongestant properties: it is indeed used to cleanse wounds and sores, to relieve itching from insect bites, and for relaxing foot baths.

The dried lavender from the Azienda Agricola Cleopatra can be used for infusions, as well as to enrich delicious culinary recipes. The lavender flowers are used in the cooking of roast chicken, in stews, and to flavor jams, jellies, ice creams, and mousses.

To prepare an aromatic infusion: put a teaspoon of dried lavender flowers in a cup of boiling water (250 ml) covered. It is also useful for filling bags to scent linen in wardrobes and drawers and to keep moths away.

Store in its original jar in a dark, cool, and dry place.
The indicative expiry is 2 years from the packaging date.
