The Abate Pears we offer have been selected by Sa.Fa. Frutta, high-quality products from the Venetian plains. River lands rich in silt and sand that give a particular aroma and firmness along with a good richness in minerals.
The Abate Pear is considered the queen of pears, for its very intense fragrance and sweet taste. The pears we propose are large-sized pears (they can weigh up to 200g) and have the characteristic flask-like shape.
Very juicy and sweet, the Abate Pear is composed of 84% water and 9.8% sugars. Thanks to the characteristics of the lands where it grows, the pear gathers in its pulp many minerals: potassium, calcium, sodium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, boron, fluorine, zinc, copper, manganese, and selenium. Rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, C, E, K, and J as well. It also contains beta-carotene, cryptoxanthin, lutein, and zeaxanthin, which are all powerful antioxidants.
The Veneto Abate Pears from Sa.Ma. Frutta (which we offer in quantities of 3kg) are perfect to eat plain, but they are sublime paired with cheese as an appetizer.
Interesting in risottos. An ideal ingredient for preparing excellent pear cakes and desserts in general because they have a firm pulp.
We encourage you to also try a wonderful pairing on pizza: Abate pears and sweet gorgonzola or French brie.
