The Zizzona di Battipaglia from Caseificio La Fattoria is a unique cheese that, upon tasting, takes us to both bliss and the realm of indulgence. We are talking about a particularly enchanting variant of Buffalo Milk Mozzarella that is produced exclusively in Battipaglia.
Its captivating shape evokes primal sensations that tap into the roots of humanity: when the maternal breast, always a safe refuge, represented fertility and abundance. We suggest the Millefoglie di Zizzona with arugula and bresaola, or the Zuccotto di Zizzona di Battipaglia filled with cooked ham and lettuce, accompanied by confit cherry tomatoes.
The zizzona mozzarella can also be an excellent ingredient for a Panzanella, for rich and delicious salads, for pizzas, or for baked vegetables covered with plenty of gooey cheese.
Once opened, keep the brine and (if there is any left), put the Zizzona back into the brine and store it in the fridge for 3 days.
