The Libero Taburno Falanghina del Sannio DOP vendemmia tardiva 2014 from the winery Fontanavecchia is a white monovarietal wine produced exclusively with the Falanghina grape variety.
The Fontanavecchia winery carries out all its activities with scrupulous attention and utmost respect for the vineyards, the wine, and the people: from vineyard management to winemaking, including bottling phases.
Since 2011, the designation has changed to DOP. This designation assigns higher quality to the Falanghina del Sannio and, consequently, also entails greater responsibility, control, and scrupulousness in production.
Grape variety: 100% Falanghina selected and harvested in crates
Vineyard training system: guyot
Vineyard: 300 m above sea level, with clayey soil with emerging limestone marls
Winemaking: cold maceration on the skins for 8 hours, fermentation 10% in French oak barriques, 90% in steel
Harvest period: first decade of October
Aging: 20% in French oak barriques for 6 months; 80% in steel
Year: 2014
Alcohol percentage: 14% vol.
The Libero Taburno Falanghina del Sannio DOP late harvest 2014 from the winery Fontanavecchia is a dry white wine that pairs wonderfully with seafood cuisine. I recommend trying it with octopus salad.
Color: intense golden yellow
Aroma: aromas of yellow peach, ripe apricot, acacia blossom, and mineral notes.
Taste: good gustatory structure, tending towards balance, with a pleasant savory and almond-like finish.
Serving temperature: 6 - 8 °C
