The Robbione Serrapetrona DOC 2016 from Terre di Serrapetrona is a robust and full-bodied wine. Pride of the winery, it is proof that Vernaccia Nera can compete with world-famous red grape varieties.
Grape variety: 100% Vernaccia Nera
Training system: Simple Guyot
Harvest: Second decade of October, by hand, bunch selection, summer thinning
Winemaking: Natural drying, fermentation for 15 days in steel tanks at a temperature of 24° - 26° C.
Aging: 12 months in steel, 36 months in a 25 hl oak barrel, and 12 months in the bottle
Alcohol content: 15% vol.
Pairings: Game, red meats, braised dishes, porchetta dishes, polenta and osso buco.
Characteristics: Ruby red color with violet reflections. Aroma that initially evokes elegant balsamic nuances such as licorice and rosemary. Followed by hints of red fruits, plum, and sour cherry. Soft and velvety taste, well balanced, of high elegance and persistence.
Suggestions: Serve in a Riedel Bordeaux 416/00 glass, at a temperature of about 18 °C, taking care to open the bottle at least 1 hour before serving or better in a decanter.
