Organic Dried Chickpeas 500g

I BIO Dried Chickpeas from the Fratelli Foschi Farm are 100% organic and grown according to eco-sustainable agricultural practices in the magical hills of Romagna in the province of Forlì-Cesena.

These BIO Dried Chickpeas, botanically Cicer arietinum, are characterized by extraordinary nutritional values and properties (not surprisingly, they are the third most consumed legume in the world after soy and beans). Chickpeas are particularly distinguished by their content of carbohydrates, proteins, and fibers, but they also contain minerals and vitamins.

The proteins make them an excellent substitute for meat for vegans and vegetarians, and what’s more, they provide a good amount of essential amino acids including arginine and tryptophan, linked to the production of serotonin, the happiness hormone.

Chickpeas also contain a good amount of Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids which, in combination with antioxidant substances called saponins, help reduce the levels of triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood.

The high content of carbohydrates makes them a particularly energizing food.

The BIO Dried Chickpeas from Azienda Agricola Fratelli Foschi are truly versatile in the kitchen. It should be noted that chickpeas are legumes that can be consumed after drying, so it is clear that before deciding on their use, they must be soaked for at least 8 hours before use.

Once the soaking is complete, the chickpeas should be thoroughly rinsed, and you will notice how much their volume has increased once rehydrated. They should then be cooked in water for about two hours over low heat with a lid from the moment the water boils.

After cooking, chickpeas can be consumed whole or used for numerous preparations. Prepare a creamy soup or mash them to make the typical Lebanese hummus by adding tahini (you can find it on our website), crushed garlic, extra virgin olive oil, lemon, and, optionally, parsley.
