The BIO Pearl Barley from the Azienda Agricola Fratelli Foschi is 100% organic and grown according to eco-sustainable agricultural practices in the magical hills of Romagna in the province of Forlì-Cesena.
Let's start by saying that pearl barley is a cereal with excellent nutritional properties. Among the various types of barley, the pearled variety stands out for being devoid of bran and hulls, which is why it appears whitish.
Pearl barley, being a cereal, is decidedly caloric since it is mostly composed of carbohydrates, but it is also rich in minerals, especially phosphorus and potassium, vitamins, fiber, and essential amino acids.
It is therefore a food worth including in your diet also for the many beneficial properties it has on the digestive system, especially on the intestines, reducing irritability and instead promoting regularity.

The BIO Pearl Barley from the Fratelli Foschi Agricultural Company is truly versatile in the kitchen. Pearl barley is the easiest type of barley to use because, unlike whole barley or hulled barley, it does not need to be soaked and, most importantly, cooks in a short time (generally in low simmering water for about 20-25 minutes).
It is precisely this characteristic that makes it particularly suitable for various types of preparations. The basic seasoning, once boiled, can be a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil or a chopped mixture of aromatic herbs but also seasonal vegetables diced and previously sautéed to taste.
However, pearl barley can also be used to create stuffing for tomatoes, zucchinis, eggplants, or bell peppers, perhaps with some fresh cheese of your choice and capers that always add that extra touch of flavor.
You can also create vegetarian meatballs, "Greek" salads, just that instead of rice you use pearl barley, as well as delicious soups.
