The Auritea Costa Toscana IGT Cabernet Franc BIO 2017 from Tenute Lunelli is a pure Cabernet Franc and takes its name from Arca Aurita, the marine origin fossil shell present for millions of years in the soils of the Estate, which gives this wine a seductive minerality.
It is the flagship wine of Podernovo, the Lunelli family estate on the Tuscan coast that has been certified organic since 2012.
Grapes: 100% Cabernet Franc
Production Area: Born from the Olmo vineyard located on the eastern side of the Podernovo hill.
Soil Type: Medium-textured, loamy tending to clay, rich in marine origin fossil shells.
Training System: Spur cordon
Fermentation Temperature: Cold pre-fermentation maceration at 12°C for 42 hours, maximum fermentation temperature of 26°C - 28°C in steel.
Maceration Time: 20 - 25 days with slight wetting of the cap to slowly extract the noble part of the tannins.
Aging: 18 months in French oak barriques.
Refinement: At least 12 months in the bottle.
Alcohol Content: 14% Vol.
The Auritea Costa Toscana IGT Cabernet Franc BIO 2017 from Tenute Lunelli is perfect for hearty meat dishes, particularly with succulent red meats and braised dishes.
Visual examination: Bright and deep ruby red.
Aroma: On the nose, it impresses with its deep intensity, where notes of cocoa powder, blackcurrant jam, and rosemary anticipate spicier and balsamic hints.
Taste: On the palate, the structure, solid and elegant, highlights the softness of the tannins and offers a savory finish, enriched by the fossil components of the soil.
