Maremma Toscana IGT Luminoso
The charming vineyard Campo Vecchio is the source of the three grapes used to produce this gentle Tuscan white wine. Vermentino, Trebbiano, and Malvasia are the essence of the culture and winemaking tradition of Tuscan white grapes. A pleasant and decidedly intriguing aromatic mix, ideal for seafood cuisine. Produced in biodynamic agriculture, the grapes were harvested in mid-September 2013, which is considered an exceptional vintage for the perfect balance between sugars and acidity, with a decidedly complex aromatic profile. It is fragrant with Mediterranean scrub with aromatic herbs like rosemary, thyme, and fresh basil. White flowers, apple, and peach are accompanied by citrus nuances of lime. It is a wine that undergoes only steel aging to preserve its pleasant freshness, which is also manifested on the palate with a beautiful balsamic note and remarkable sapidity. The finish is delicately almondy.
Maremma Toscana IGT Luminoso: How is it produced
Podere San Cristoforo, Tuscany
Gavorrano, Maremma Tuscany. A territory that stretches towards the sea but firmly retains the dust of the burnt clays of the hinterland. A small piece of paradise where Lorenzo Zonin produces biodynamic poetry and pure oenological passion. His wines are open books on an untamed land that underlies a sweet and gentle soul. The life of the vineyard is carefully followed by Lorenzo, Davide, Michele, Claudio, and Giampiero, who accompany the formation of the grape cluster until its slow ripening and the ritual of the harvest. His wines tell the story of the saline breezes from the sea, the rustle of the wind among the leaves, the red dust of ancient Maremma clays, the scents of the Mediterranean scrub, the brine, iodine, and the essentiality of laurel and wild rosemary bushes. They do so with the naturalness and straightforwardness typical of these parts. A mix of pleasure and substance.
The property extends over 45 hectares, of which 15 are vineyards, 2 hectares of olive trees, and the rest sunflowers and cereals. Biodynamic agriculture covers the entire area. The grape varieties cultivated are Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Vermentino, and Trebbiano.
Lorenzo Zonin practices the art of nature and listens to its daily breath. Only by doing so can he create such exciting and unique wines. Works of art that have captivated the most important international wine experts and have won major awards both in Italy and worldwide.
The wines have names that recall the peculiarities of that farm in Tuscany: Luminoso, Carandelle, Amaranto, and San Cristoforo. For those seeking the wilder and more intriguing Tuscany where the land asserts itself with elegance and interpretative strength. Wines that will amaze with their pleasantness and purity.
