Veneto

We begin with a region rich in flavors like Veneto, where culinary specialties range from land to sea, from mountains to lakes. From clams and mussels from the Adriatic Sea to trout and pike from Lake Garda. However, it is land cuisine that reigns supreme in Veneto, with numerous typical products certified with DOP and IGP. Among them, cheeses hold global renown, such as Asiago DOP, Montasio DOP, Monte Veronese DOP, Piave DOP, and Casatella Trevigiana DOP. Veneto is also home to great aged cheeses, like Blu 61, named Italy's best blue cheese for several consecutive years, or San Pietro in cera d'api, awarded the title of Europe's best cheese at the 2015 World Cheese Awards. Cold cuts are particularly well represented by the Sopressa Vicentina DOP and the delicious Prosciutto Veneto Berico-Euganeo, two exceptional products from the Vicenza and Padua areas.

Veneto is also known for great extra virgin olive oils and highly prized fruits and vegetables such as White Asparagus of Bassano DOP, White Garlic of Polesine DOP, and the beautiful Marrone of San Zeno DOP. There's also Verona Peach, Badoere and Cimadolmo Asparagus, Marostica Cherry, and Lamon Bean. Not to mention rice from the Po Delta and the excellent Vialone Nano Veronese. Lastly, we can't forget about the wines: the true driving force behind the entire Italian agricultural industry. Veneto is today the most explosive wine economy in the world, both financially and in terms of market penetration. Valpolicella, Valdobbiadene, and Conegliano Prosecco, along with lowland Prosecco, the Soave and Lugana regions, Breganze, and the Euganean Hills, as well as the plains of Lison Pramaggiore, form an open-air wine cellar and one of the most important vineyards in the world. Discover the vast wealth of typical Veneto products!

Friuli Venezia Giulia

Trieste is the port of coffee, and it has never lost this unique characteristic since its heyday during the time of the Serenissima Republic of Venice. Nearly all of Italy's and Europe's coffee passes through Friuli Venezia Giulia. Friuli is a region rich in typical products and traditional specialties. The art of aging ham thighs is one of the most important production sectors in Italy: Cormòns, Sauris, San Daniele, and many other localities tell stories linked to the production of raw and smoked hams sliced with a carving knife. Among the cheeses, Friuli's true typical cheese is Montasio DOP, not forgetting Carnia. Friuli is also renowned for its high-quality white wines, including excellent Friulano (formerly Tocai), Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Ribolla Gialla, Chardonnay, and Picolit. Rounding out this varied selection are the red wines: Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Schioppettino, Pignolo, and superb Merlot.

Trentino Alto Adige

Among the mountains of Trentino Alto Adige, there are many typical enogastronomic treasures of the territory. Consider the Speck from Alto Adige IGP or the Puzzone di Moena DOP cheese from the Val di Fassa. Both products have managed to create significant international markets. Trentino Alto Adige is also the homeland of apples. The first DOP for this fruit in Europe is found in the Val di Non, followed by the Alto Adige Apple IGP, especially from the Val Venosta. Another DOP cheese is the Spressa delle Giudicarie. There are also excellent extra virgin olive oils, but most notably, exceptional wines: Muller Thurgau is the typical wine of the Cembra Valley, and Termeno (Tramin in German) gave its name to the famous Gewurztraminer. Not to mention the great Sylvaner above Bolzano or Teroldego Rotaliano and Marzemino! Discover the typical products of Trentino, full of surprises!

Lombardy

The region of Lombardy is also a great producer of typical local products. The high-quality mountain milk production allows for the creation of dairy jewels such as Bagoss from Bagolino and Bitto. Additionally, this region is home to Taleggio, Provolone, Grana Padano, and the legendary Gorgonzola. Not to mention the great cold cuts like Bresaola from Valtellina, Brianza Salami, or the famous Goose Salami from Mortara. And what about the wines? Valtellina, Valcalepio, Valtenesi, Lugana, and Franciacorta are the most important DOC and DOCG zones, offering some of Italy’s most prestigious wines. Mantua, a province distinguished for fruit production, is home to the Pera Mantovana IGP, which is used to make the delicious mostarda, a traditional condiment of the Gonzaga family; and the particularly sweet and fragrant Melone Mantovano IGP. Lombardy also boasts a DOP certification for honey. Indeed, the province of Varese is so closely linked to this product that it has certified Miele Varesino DOP. Among the cold cuts, we have Bresaola from Val d’Ossola DOP, Rosemary Lard from Cavour DOP, and Crudo di Cuneo DOP. One of the most famous agricultural products is the legendary Hazelnuts from Piedmont IGP. The Piedmont tradition of elegant and Art Nouveau Turin patisseries includes the famous Marrons Glacés made from the renowned Cuneo Chestnuts IGP and Val di Susa Chestnuts IGP, cooked in water and sugar, with the glaze forming from sugar syrup and powdered sugar. Other products like Carmagnola Peppers and Cardoon Gobbo from Nizza Monferrato are true works of art from Piedmont’s land. The typical regional products of Piedmont are all waiting to be discovered!

Val d'Aosta

Even among the mountains of Valle d'Aosta, there are unique delicacies! The Lard d'Arnad DOP owes its delightful flavor to the aromatic herbs that grow in the meadows and among the rocks of the high peaks of Aosta Valley. Other DOP products include Vallée d'Aoste Jambon de Bosses and Fromadzo. The traditional regional products here will amaze you!

Emilia Romagna

Our very own Food Valley! Emilia Romagna is especially famous for its cold cuts: the Culatello di Zibello DOP reigns supreme, but right after the King comes the Prince, Prosciutto Crudo di Parma DOP. The Ligurian land also offers us other great products: the violet asparagus and the violet artichoke from Albenga. Not to mention Taggiasca olives and their unforgettable extra virgin olive oil. Liguria is also home to cheeses, as the pastures mainly face north toward the Piedmontese Apennines. There is the Brusso from Alta Valle Arroscia, similar to the Langhe's Bruss, the Formaggetta del Ponente, and Giuncata from sheep’s milk. Among the cold cuts, we have the classic Genoese Salami, Cooked and Raw Salami from Sassello, and the Sausages of Ceriana and Pignone. Finally, a rare find: the Zerarìa, a processed jelly made from beef and pork, a legacy of ancient meals for sailors on long journeys, an old type of canned meat. But Liguria is also, and above all, about the sea. In particular, it stands out for its bluefish cuisine, such as Anchovies alla Ligure or alla Sanremasca, stuffed sardines, Bagnun, and brodetto alla ligure. And many more delightful and succulent dishes. So, let’s get hunting for more typical regional Italian flavors!
